From cookies baking in the oven to the smell of a bonfire, scents can evoke memories so powerful that you may feel as though you've been transported back in time. It’s known as “odor-evoked autobiographical memory” or the Proust phenomenon, after French writer Marcel Proust, and can be as enjoyable as the initial impression itself. As part of the CBB I was given the unique opportunity to curate and customize my own scent memory with the help of Demeter Fragrances. With over 300 scents to choose from it was difficult to narrow down the options, but the moment my eyes laid upon the scent Saddle a warm feeling washed over my body that simply couldn't be ignored. And with a single whiff of it's distinct leather scent I embarked on a journey through the blissful memories I formed throughout years of horseback riding.
