NYE BEAUTY & STYLE ESSENTIALS

New Year's Eve is one of those nights that I love to hate – it's crowded, expensive, and more often than not, a disappointment. But at the same time, I absolutely love the excuse it gives me to dress up, celebrate, and of course, pop bottles, drink champagne and forget about the year prior. And although I don't exactly know where I'll end up this New Year's Eve, I know that I'll be surrounded by good friends and looking fine when the clock strikes midnight.

Here are the beauty and style essentials I'm counting on to keep me glowing for this year's countdown.

When it comes to my outfit for the night, I'm currently at a loss, but knowing me it's bound to be black, tight, and begging for a choker – necklace, that is. And without a doubt, the choker that will be wrapped around most necks this New Year's Eve will be the rhinestone choker. I've been partial to the thick silver rhinestone choker, currently considered a classic, since wearing one to the P&G Beauty Awards, but this NYE I'll be opting for something that will set me apart. I'm currently eyeing two options from Aldo – the first, the Requena, is one that will bring an edginess to my outfit thanks to it's resemblance to barbed wire, while the other is a spin on the classic featuring black rhinestones (similar here). I've also been debating whether or not to throw on a pair of earrings as well – I'm currently head over heels for the Geometric Hoops by Happiness Boutique.

One thing that is certain: I'll definitely be throwing on a cute 'set', for the rare chance I meet someone dreamy enough to kiss when the clock strikes twelve. And the Victoria's Secret Crochet Lace Triangle Bralette, which I got for Christmas, is the ultimate black bralette.

New Year's Eve makeup is all about skin that glows. In previous years I took that quite literally and lined my eyes with my Lise Watier Eye Glitter Liner in Silver – which, in my opinion, isn't a bad call – but this year I'm opting for something slightly more subtle; a heavy highlight and metallic lip. Those who attended the Rodial makeup preview a few years back will recall my undying love for the Rodial Instaglam Glow and Highlight Brush, which I still consider the best highlighter in the world. But coming a close second is the Make Up For Ever Pro Light Fusion Highlighter in Golden Pink. Beyond the fact that the powder itself has been embossed with a stunning design, the Pro Fusion Highlight also delivers intense shimmer payoff, featuring a beautiful iridescence. And although a typical day in the life of Amy would require only one of the aforementioned highlighters, because it's NYE I'll be doing extra and will be setting the Instaglam Glow with a heavy layer of the Pro Fusion Highlighter.

For the lips, I'm opting for a nude lip stain and metallic pink/nude lipstick – because a NY MO ( aka New Years Make Out for those who weren't by my side in 2011) is hopefully on the horizon. Sure to be stashed in my clutch is the Stila Liquid Lipstick in Caramello and my trusty MAC Lipstick in High Strung.

To finish off my New Year's ensemble, I'll be coating my nails with a subtle metallic nail polish – I'm currently beyond obsessed with Girls Love PearlsBreakfast at Tiffany's, and Five-and-Ten from the OPI Breakfast At Tiffany's Collection. And to lure in any potential suitors I'll be adding  spritz or two of the sultry Atelier Cologne Vanille Insensée, which can conveniently be stashed in my clutch.

Finally, it's essential that I remember to bring my FujiFilm Instax Mini 8 in order to capture the final moments of 2016, as well as the start to the new year, wherever that might be.
