STEP 1: A NEW SKINCARE REGIME
Out with the old and in with the new. After disregarding my skincare routine for the better part of the past three months I decided it was time to, once again, become a functioning human. Cleanser, eye cream, serum.. the whole nine yards! I figure if I'm going to commit myself to a new regime I might as well go all the way. But with so little focus being placed on my skin, and health in general, over the past few months I needed to construct a routine that was effective yet gentle. On a mission for radiant, dewy skin I assembled my own army of skin saviors known to give skin a boost of radiance and nutrition, without causing irritation.
Cleanser / Shiseido Creamy Cleansing Emulsion ($35)
After years of using the Philosophy Purity Cleanser, I've decided it's time to give my skin a shake up and introduce the Shiseido Creamy Cleansing Emulsion. This gentle emulsion (aka a cream of mixed solubles that are normally immiscible(don't mix)) promotes hydration and moisture-retention - an absolute must given the dry months ahead - thanks to the inclusion of a Bio-Hyaluronic Complex. Hyaluronic Acid is a molecule naturally found in the body that possess' impressive moisture-retention properties. As an added bonus, you can increase it's moisturizing properties by removing the cleanser with tissues rather than rinsing. The absolute best thing about this cleanser you ask? It's effective enough to remove even my most stubborn mascaras, while it's gentle formula ensures my skin is always left feeling comfortable, never dry.
Serum / Sothys Energizing Booster Serum
I have no clue how to purchase this stuff - I will find out - but aside from it's woody/masculine smell I quite enjoy it. It's rather lightweight, absorbing quickly, and tingles as it touches my skin, most likely akin to the Siberian Ginseng it contains. Apparently Siberian Ginseng is more respected in the beauty/science community. It's meant to unify and restore a radiant complexion, and, ANDDD, prevent/correct blemishes, and while I haven't been using it long enough to judge I will be sure to include it in an upcoming empties post in order to confirm/deny those claims.
Eye Cream / Algenist Complete Renewal Eye Balm ($80)
This is my second deluxe sample of this stuff, lord knows how I got it - probably from batting my eyelashes - but boy am I glad I did. Look at the price tag. Truly this eye balm is worth every nickel, all sixteen hundred of 'em. It's super creamy, but absorbs within mere seconds and contains an ingredient called Alguronic Acid, which fights signs of aging and renews the eye area. In the past when I've used this stuff religiously it's generously helped rid me of my sad, dark under eyes, so hopefully with daily use I'll be looking bright-eyed once again.
Day Cream / Estee Lauder Nutritious Vitality8 Radiant Moisture Creme ($69)
Soft, rich yet lightweight, and as vitamin packed as a slap in the face with kale, sort of. Everything you'd want a face cream to be. Seriously, when it was pitched to me it was described as the perfect product for the girl who has a poor diet and doesn't work out. HELLO, ME! ...My diet consists of potatoes and cheese. Sounds like a perfect match, right. It is, and I see myself and this cream having a winter-long relationship, but once cuffing season ends so will our love - my skin craves gel moisturizers come summer. The secret behind it's nourishing, hydrating, energizing, smoothing, radiant-ing powers? The exclusive Pomegranate8 Complex, which revealed a plumper more radiant complexion in 99% of women in only 8 days. And those women do not lie. My skin is already thanking me for the introduction.
Corrector / Sothys Intensive Energizing Corrector
Although this is more accurately defined as a makeup product I wanted to include it in this post as I have been mixing a small drop of it into my moisturizing in the morning. Similar to the serum, this correcting cream contains that bougie Siberian Ginseng and the same woody/masculine scent. But seeing as I only add it to my moisturizer on days when I'm wearing makeup I never worry as the scent is quickly covered up. So far, within the week using it, I've noticed that it amplifies my primer to better even out my skin tone, creating a great base for foundation. That said, dependent on the price, it will be a 'repurchase'.
