FOR THE FRILL OF SATIN

More and more frequently fast fashion retailers are popping up on the web with the same catalogue of items to choose from. Don't get me wrong, the prices are great, but you can grow uninspired constantly viewing the same items, styled in a similar regard. Personally, when I think of fashion, I think of the obscure, the unique. Fashion allows us to separate ourselves from the masses, explore our creativity, and convey our personality without ever speaking a word.

It had been some time since I found an article of clothing that evoked a true sense of emotion and belonging, but the arrival of my Me by Meroz Black Frilled Irregular Jacket ($122) has certainly lit a fire within me to search harder. I found this incredible satin jacket while perusing an online site that is entirely new to me called Dezzal. It turns out that Dezzal is a hub for under-the-radar designers to showcase and sell their work to the masses. The site features Flash Sales, similar to that of Hautelook, alongside the standard e-commerce we've come to expect.

Me by Meroz is arguably my favourite designer found on the site, thanks to her unique play on textile and texture. You would think that the combination of satin and frills would read girly, but the oversized fit of her clothing and unexpected placement of texture keeps the collection edgy and alternative, with a slight hint of romance. The Me by Meroz Black Frilled Irregular Jacket has already become a staple in my wardrobe, and I cannot wait to watch as the raw hem of the frills continues to unravel and promote an even edgier feel to the garment.
