Lolë White Tour

There are many things a mother passes on to her daughter over the years. For most, it's knowledge and family heirlooms, for me it was nerve, guts and a love for yoga. My mother first introduced me to yoga when I was a teenager, struggling to find an outlet for my unnecessary angst. It became a passion, and at one point, somewhat of an addiction.

Last week I had the opportunity to pay my Mom back for introducing me to yoga and bring her to the Lolë White Tour presented by Pandora to experience a yoga class unlike any other. And somewhere amidst the 4000 other yogis, I found a sense of peace within myself that I had long forgotten.

'THE LOLË WHITE TOUR HAS UNITED COMMUNITIES AROUND THE WORLD IN MAGNIFICENT YOGA SESSIONS DEDICATED TO PEACE. SINCE OUR FIRST EVENT IN 2012, THOUSANDS OF PARTICIPANTS, ALL DRESSED IN WHITE, HAVE COME TOGETHER TO PRACTICE AS ONE.'

The Lolë White Tour is a tour presented by Lolë and Pandora that delivers an unforgettable yoga experience to major cities around the world, including Toronto and Montreal.  Although I've heard musings of the spectacle and magic that is the Lolë White Tour, as my Mom and I arrived at the Princes' Gates neither one of us were sure what to expect.

My Experience at the Lolë White Tour

Upon entering the event, there were a number of vendors providing attendees with free gifts and demos. We also found a mini Lolë shop, where 20% of the proceeds went to the New Leaf Yoga Foundation, and a few select food trucks. Having not eaten dinner, we decided to fuel up on a smoothie at the Green Machine food truck, before heading to the V.I.P. section to grab a spot for the yoga class.

We were instantly startled to see the sheer number of yogis in attendance and the energy that night the night had already provided. As we settled into our bright yellow Lolë yoga mats, facing the Prices' Gates with the sun setting in the background, we were delighted with a performance by Montreal's BEYRIES. Her powerful performance was coupled with a touching aerial yoga session carried out by two incredible yogis, who I, unfortunately, do not know the names of.

Immediately after BEYRIES performance, we were led through a 15-minute meditation session by Marla Meenakshi Joy of Downward Dog Yoga Centre in Toronto. During the session, volunteers went around with sage to cleanse the air and provide a blissful and relaxing meditation experience.

Following the meditation, we embarked on the sunset yoga class taught by Colleen Saidman Yee & husband, Rodney Yee. The feeling and energy you receive when you are surrounded by 4000 yogis as you move through a variety of yoga positions is one that I cannot explain. And having my Mom by my side to share such an influential and eye-opening experience made the event one that I will never forget.

As we carried through our final Sun Salutations into Shavasana we were asked to reflect on our perceptions of ourselves and rid ourselves of them. We were encouraged to accept ourselves in that moment, exactly as we are, regardless of our flaws and downfalls – something I hadn't been able to do in quite some time. And that's exactly when I realized, sometimes you have to face yourself at your darkest point to reach your brightest moment.

Thanks to my experience at the Lolë White Tour, I've discovered a renewed outlook on myself and my life, and the drive to be the best person I can possibly be, for myself and for those around me. And with the constant support of my family and friends, I'm getting a bit closer to the light every day.

If you've ever considered going to the Lolë White Tour, I highly recommend it! I know that I'll definitely be in attendance with my Mom next year! And, if you're in Montreal, the event is quickly coming up on August 12th! Interested? Get your ticket here!
