When it comes to buying skincare products, I'm typically searching for something that is brightening. But around this time of the year, my skin is so desperate for moisture that I have to cool it on the brighteners and exfoliants and opt for something hydrating. Whether it's something to do with the spastic weather patterns or the fact that for the past three years I've undergone extreme change each and every September I'll never know. But I'm always prepared with a hydrating skincare routine to negate the effects. Typically that routine consists of rich, creamy products from a few different brands, but this year I'm all about the Laneige Water Bank and it's lightweight water-like consistency.

I was introduced to the Laneige Water Bank when they brought the Global Beauty Road to the Toronto Eaton Centre at the beginning of August. The event brought awareness to the Water Bank collection through one-on-one consultations, stations in which hydration levels were analyzed – mine were embarrassingly low – and various games. I had so much fun playing the games, and did surprisingly well, collecting a total of 4 tokens, which could be exchanged for a chance to win the Water Sleeping Mask ($30). The products in the Laneige Water Bank are some of the best lightweight moisturizers I've ever tried. The secret lies within the hydro ionized mineral water, which delivers six moisture-maximizing minerals: zinc, magnesium, manganese, potassium, calcium, and sodium. Coupled with exclusive biogen technology, which allows these minerals to penetrate to the deepest layers of the skin, the entire line delivers long-lasting hydration. And that has been a serious blessing this past week. Normally, with these extreme changes in weather, my skin goes haywire, and the result is random patches of oil and dryness, and an overall lack luster complexion.  However, since using the Water Bank collection my skin has remained quite 'normal', with minimal changes in dryness and oil production. 

I've become so addicted to the line-up and it's unique water-like texture that I've been neglecting the rest of my skincare collection, and opting for the Water Bank regime in its entirety, well almost. 

After washing my face with my most loved Philosophy Purity Cleanser, I apply two pumps of the Water Bank Serum ($46) to my face and neck, followed by either the Water Bank Gel Cream ($42) or Water Bank Moisture Cream ($42), depending on whether it's morning or night. I typically reach for the Gel Cream during the day because it is extremely lightweight, and therefore sinks into the skin quickly – a blessing for those always in a rush to do their makeup immediately after washing their face. And for night, my skin yearns for something heavier, which is why I reach for the Moisture Cream. It's important to note that this cream is considered rich for this line but would be considered lightweight in any other regard. Finally, I apply the Water Bank Eye Gel ($46) underneath the eyes, which instantly provides a cooling and refreshing feeling to the under eyes. I swear it's the first product in a long while that's made my eyes feel and look noticeably less puffy, likely due to the moisture-balancing tillandsia.

Needless to say, I've become quite the Water Bank addict and would highly recommend it to those who also find their skin desperate for moisture around this time of the year.
