MY CUSTOM FRAGRANCE W. DEMETER

I've been fascinated by the idea of creating my own fragrance since I was a little girl. So, when Demeter Fragrance teamed up with the Canadian Beauty Bloggers and asked bloggers to create their own signature perfume using a few of the brand's scents and their Foolproof Blending Kits I anxiously jumped at the opportunity.

This isn't my first stint with Demeter, and I'm sure it won't be the last – you can see my previous posts here & here. There is just something so truly unique about the company and their scents that you can't help but return to them time and time again. And with over 300 single note scents available it's hard to understand how anyone could bore of the options.

As an FYI: single note scents are combinations of the fewest ingredients that comprise a recognizable smell, and therefore express their nature immediately and do not change over time. When notes are combined 'they create the familiar top, middle and bottom note dry-down that is associated with how the smell of prestige and designer fragrances change over time.'

THE FOOLPROOF BLENDING KIT

The Foolproof Blending Tool Kit ($6 USD) contains everything you would need to mix and layer fragrances to create your own unique perfume, well, excluding the actual scents. Included in the kit is: a 1oz refillable bottle w. customizable label, 1 funnel, 6 droppers, and a plethora of blending strips. Once you've decided on the scents you wish to mix you simply play around with the kit until you determine the perfect combination.

Personally, what I'm forever after is a clean scent, that is slightly sexy and definitely masculine. So while I was perusing the Demeter Fragrance Library for scents to mix I kept this at front of mind. After selecting a multitude of trios I settled on the most simplistic: Clean Skin , Salt Air  and Jasmine, all of which retail for $20/1oz USD. Without a doubt, Clean Skin is my favourite scent of the bunch. It's crisp, clean, and delicate, created from a blend of orange, lemon, white rose, bergamot peach and vanilla. It also pairs beautifully with my second scent, Salt Air, which instantly transports you to your favourite beach. For a hint of sex appeal, I also grabbed Jasmine, a distinctly floral, but seductive note, which perfectly finished off my custom fragrance.

THE OUTCOME

Given that this was my first experience creating a fragrance, I was amazed by how simple it was to complete, and how lovely the perfume turned out. In order to create my specific scent, which I've dubbed Yours Always due to its romantic vibes, I combined two parts Clean Skin with one part Salt Air and finished with 6 drops of Jasmine.  The combination is undeniably wearable with the slightest hint of seduction. It's difficult to pinpoint exactly what the perfume smells like, but it's definitely something I will wear for day-to-day, but will most likely become my bedtime scent.
