Last week marked the second Toronto Women’s Fashion Week. Through my full-time position with 1Milk2Sugars I’ve been lucky enough to work backstage with Redken at both the AW17 and SS18 Fashion Weeks. You can see my full recap from the AW17 shows, here.

This year, I not only got to catch the Wallo and Hendrixroe runway shows, I also found myself backstage for the Stephan Caras, Lesley Hampton and Canada 150 presentations. Not to mention I got to experience the insane energy that comes from the Redken team as they prep the models before and between the shows, getting each one #RedkenReady! Here are some of my favourite #BTS moments I caught this Toronto Women’s Fashion Week!

Backstage w. Redken

From classic waves to intricate braids, to an unconventional bow and painted roots for the Amato Couture show, the backstage of TWFW was action-packed. Jorge Joao, Master Stylist for Redken led Backstage Stylists through each look in a way that was truly awe-inspiring. Especially on the final day of shows, in which, multiple models were to used in back to back shows, leaving the Redken team minimal time to complete the looks. But under the watchful eye of Jorge, all was well, and the team successfully completed another Toronto Women's Fashion Week. 

Hendrixroe Fashion Show

Once again, the Hendrixroe team brought the entire TWFW house down with their runway show, which featured a short creative set to Kehlani - Intro. It’s the one show where people stand on speakers (myself included) to get the perfect shot, and where the surprises are aplenty. Which included Kardinall Offishall walking the runway in two metallic leather looks.

This year backstage before Hendrixroe was especially sweet as my best friend Vyvian To worked alongside Hendrixroe with Blank and Blue to style the models with some killer shades. The result? A killer runway that was so action-packed I was vibin’ off of the mixtape and energy for hours later.

Backstage @ Stephan Caras

Another killer moment for me included the time I spent backstage before the Stephan Caras runway show. Not only was I obsessed with the low pony created by the Redken team, I also found myself drooling over the gowns, which featured embroidered florals in a way that was edgy and elegant all at once.
