TOO FACED . BORN THIS WAY FOUNDATION
When it comes to foundation I am slightly religious in my devotion to Make Up For Ever – and when I say slightly religious I mean I currently have five different MUFE foundation present in my kit... that I use solely on myself. So naturally it came as a shock to everyone, myself included, when I started ranting and raving about the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation ($49) after only having tried a single-use tester. I was addicted, and like any true addict I needed my fix for more. Lucky for me, the lovely babes at BrandLink Comm could sense my dependency from miles away and graciously sent me the shades Porcelain and Vanilla to test out.
The Too Faced Born This Way Foundation ($49) features an oil-free formula that is designed to provide natural-looking, full coverage with a beautiful, radiant finish. Now available in eighteen shades, the formula has been infused with a ‘potent combination of coconut water to naturally replenish moisture levels; alpine rose to brighten the skin’s appearance and promote elasticity; and hyaluronic acid for a smoother, more youthful appearance.’ Together, these ingredients form an exceptionally lightweight foundation that truly delivers radiant, natural-looking coverage. I would go as far to say that this is my current favourite foundation – sorry Make Up For Ever!
The sheer cream formula is ideal for this time of the year given it’s moisturizing properties, also making it ideal for those with combination to dry skin. Upon initial application, this foundation made short work of my uneven complexion, quickly concealing any redness, blotchiness, and breakouts. The result? A perfected, even base that features a highly desirable natural glow. Too Faced claims that the coverage is so undetectable, you can’t discern between skin and makeup, leaving behind radiant skin that looks like you were 'born this way'. While I agree that the coverage is fantastic, more-so medium than full, I find that the compliments I receive are more in-line with 'your foundation looks amazing' rather than 'your skin is flawless', which I believe is the only downside to this product. However without the claims in place I would be none the wiser. The shades I've been playing around with are Porcelain, for those who are fair with neutral to pink undertones, and Vanilla, for fair/light with neutral to pink undertones. My current match would more accurately be Snow, but truthfully once blended out Porcelain easily matches my current skin tone, adding a hint of bronzer never hurts either. The finish is natural, giving complexion a healthy glow, verging ever so slightly on dewy. And with a fragrance-free formula those with sensitive skin can also marvel in its wonder. Unfortunately however, I would advise those with oily skin to steer clear, as the moisturizing properties found in the formulation would result in an ultra-dewy finish and decreased wear-time. But those with combination to dry skin need not worry, this foundation wears beautifully throughout the day. I typically find myself out of the house for 10+ hours, many times longer, and the Born This Way Foundation stays in place for the entirety of my day, barely creasing or fading.
