L'OCCITANE . SHEA MELTING HONEY COLLECTION
L'OCCITANE once again hits the nail on the head with their latest launch, the Shea Melting Honey Collection, which arrived in stores October 6th. The collection itself is rather special, and I don't say that because the collection combines the moisturizing benefits of shea butter from Burkina Faso with the softening properties of honey from Provence, two of my personal favourites. It's special rather because proceeds of one product in particular, the Solidarity Soap ($3), help give sight to those in need - an initiative you'll notice L'OCCITANE partake in every October for World Sight Day. The remaining products, albeit non-philanthropic, smell delectable and definitely deserve a spot in your vanity this fall/winter – especially if you're prone to dry skin.
The Shea Melting Honey Collection consists of six products, including a shower gel, bar soap, exfoliating scrub, body cream, hand cream and lip balm, all delicately scented with honey and shea. The scent is somewhat reminiscent of the HoneyMania Collection, which The Body Shop launched a few years back, only the floral notes aren't as apparent (thank god). I got my hands on four products, including the Solidarity Soap, Exfoliating Sugars, Ultra Soft Cream , and Hand Whipped Cream and have rounded up why you need all four below.
THE PRODUCTS
L'Occitane | Shea Melting Honey Solidarity Soap ($3)
Undeniably the star of the collection, the Solidarity Soap, is the one to get if you're on a budget. Not only does it produce a beautiful lather and pack a punch of moisture, the purchase of each bar throughout the month of October equates to a pair of eyeglass for someone in need. With over 285 million people in the world who are visually impaired this is a HUGE global initiative, so be a doll and buy a bar of Solidarity Soap this month.
L'Occitane | Shea Melting Honey Exfoliating Sugars ($34)
No winter is complete without a body scrub, and the Exfoliating Sugar Scrub from L'OCCITANE is unlike anything I've previously owned. This body scrub is ultra-thick, featuring sugar crystals and finely ground nutshells to gently and effectively exfoliate. Skin is left free of dry patches, but seriously moisturized, and delicately scented thanks to the star ingredients, shea butter (5%) and honey.
L'Occitane | Shea Melting Honey Ultra Soft Cream ($28)
An ultra soft body cream for even the driest skin. If you're one who suffers from roughness/tightness at this time of the year I seriously recommend purchasing this cream. At first the 10% shea butter formula may feel too light and airy for some, but put some trust in the skincare Gods, aka L'OCCITANE scientists, because this lightweight cream will leave skin hydrated for hours and hours. Plus, absorption occurs almost instantly, which is a big deal when you're someone who frantically puts clothes on after hopping out of the shower during the winter months. Anyone else?
L'Occitane | Shea Melting Honey Hand Whipped Cream ($12)
With the highest concentration of shea butter (25%) in the collection, the Hand Whipped Cream is no joke. It instantly envelops skin in moisture without leaving behind a greasy reside, instead it simply leaves behind the beautiful scent of honey. By far one of the thickest hand creams in my current possession, the L'OCCITANE Hand Whipped Cream does absolute wonders for hands at this time of the year.
